Teflon  product PTFE (TFE) as well as PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that is mined in Mongolia and China. The world demand for this mineral has increased significantly, additionally, the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and incredibly low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is used within a bunch of purposes from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for personal use. This particular mineral is the essential raw material inside the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants.This increase in demand coupled with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double over the past year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to keep at it in the near future.
